Copyright Registration Application

Register online at copyright.gov using the Electronic Copyright Office (eCO) system. Select the type of work (literary, visual arts, performing arts, sound recording, etc.). Provide the author's name, title of work, year of creation, and publication date (if published). Upload a digital copy of the work as your deposit. Filing fee is $65 for a single work by a single author (online). Registration is required before filing a copyright infringement lawsuit. Provides eligibility for statutory damages and attorney fees.
