First obtain a Clerk's Entry of Default by filing an affidavit showing the opposing party was properly served and failed to respond. Then file the Motion for Default Judgment with supporting evidence of damages. If the defendant is not an infant or incompetent person, the clerk may enter default judgment for a sum certain.
