Check your state's school choice laws and application deadlines, which are typically in early spring for the following school year. Complete the application with the student's current school information and the desired school. Provide reasons for the transfer request. Some programs use a lottery system when demand exceeds capacity. Transportation may or may not be provided. Students with IEPs must have their services transferred to the new school.
