Packaged food products must bear a Nutrition Facts label providing information about serving size, calories, total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbohydrate, dietary fiber, sugars (including added sugars), protein, and certain vitamins and minerals. The label must also include an ingredient list in descending order of predominance.
Health claims, nutrient content claims, and structure/function claims on food labels must meet specific regulatory requirements. Allergen labeling is required for the major food allergens.
